Two Wheels, One Passion: Motorcycling Adventures Across Kurdistan

Freedom on Two Wheels

There’s something primal about motorcycling—the wind in your face, the direct connection between rider and machine, the freedom to explore every corner of Kurdistan’s breathtaking landscape. For our motorcycling team, it’s more than a sport; it’s a way of life that combines adrenaline, skill, and deep respect for our homeland’s natural beauty.

The Kurdistan Riding Experience

Iraqi Kurdistan offers some of the most diverse and challenging riding terrain in the Middle East. Our riders navigate:

  • Steep mountain passes in the Qandil Mountains, testing endurance and technical skill
  • Desert trails near the Syrian border, demanding precision and bike control
  • Forest roads around Rawanduz, where changing conditions keep riders on their toes

This variety has made our team versatile. We don’t just specialize in one discipline; we excel in enduro, motocross, and long-distance touring. This adaptability has become our signature strength in regional competitions.

Meet Our Riders

Our motorcycling squad consists of 12 professional riders, each bringing unique skills:

  • Ahmed Hassan, our enduro specialist, has completed the grueling Turkish Enduro Cup three times
  • Layla Mohammed, the team’s youngest rider at 23, won the regional motocross championship last year
  • Kameran Ali, our veteran rider with 15 years of experience, mentors young talent

What unites them is an unbreakable spirit and commitment to representing Kurdistan on two wheels.

Safety First, Always

Motorcycling carries inherent risks, which is why safety is our top priority. Our team maintains:

  • Full protective gear meeting CE certification standards
  • Regular bike inspections before every ride and competition
  • Emergency response training for all team members
  • GPS tracking systems on all bikes for remote area rides

We’ve partnered with local hospitals to establish rapid response protocols for mountain riding incidents. This infrastructure allows us to push limits while minimizing risks.

Competitive Achievements

Last season marked a turning point for our motorcycling program:

  • 2nd place in the Iraq National Enduro Championship team category
  • 5 individual podium finishes across regional events
  • First all-Kurdish team to complete the 500km Desert Challenge

These results have attracted attention from international sponsors and opened doors for our riders to compete in Turkey, Iran, and the UAE.

The Machines We Ride

Our fleet includes:

  • KTM 450 EXC-F for enduro competitions
  • Honda CRF450R for motocross events
  • BMW R1250GS for long-distance touring and reconnaissance
  • Yamaha YZ250F for youth development programs

Each bike is meticulously maintained by our in-house mechanics, who customize setups for Kurdistan’s specific terrain and altitude conditions.

Community and Culture

Beyond competition, our motorcycling team is building a community. We organize:

  • Monthly group rides open to enthusiasts of all skill levels
  • Safety workshops teaching proper riding techniques
  • Charity rides raising funds for local causes
  • Youth mentorship programs introducing safe riding to teenagers

We believe motorcycling should be accessible and safe for everyone who shares the passion.

Future Goals

Looking ahead, we’re working toward:

  1. Establishing a motocross training facility with international-standard jumps and tracks
  2. Creating a women’s riding division to encourage female participation in motorsports
  3. Hosting an international rally event in Kurdistan, bringing global riders to our mountains
